HRB500 is China’s latest generation high-strength hot-rolled ribbed steel reinforcement bar with a characteristic yield strength of 500 MPa. Specified under GB/T 1499.2-2018 standard, HRB500 represents the fourth-generation reinforcement steel that is gradually replacing HRB400 in high-rise buildings, long-span bridges, and major infrastructure projects where higher strength allows significant reduction in steel consumption. The designation ‘HRB’ stands for Hot Rolled Ribbed Bar, and ‘500’ indicates the minimum yield strength in MPa.

HRB500 rebar features the same distinctive crescent-shaped rib pattern as HRB400 but achieves higher strength through optimized microalloying (V, Nb, Ti) and controlled cooling processes (typically Tempcore or similar). It offers excellent ductility (elongation ≥14%), reliable weldability, and superior performance in seismic zones when supplied as HRB500E, making it the preferred choice for modern high-performance concrete structures worldwide.

Diameters 6–12mm are also supplied in coils (1.5–3 ton typical). Each bar carries rolled-on markings including manufacturer code, grade (HRB500 or HRB500E), and diameter for full traceability.
