Tin-free steel (TFS), also known as electrolytic chromium coated steel (ECCS), is a cost-effective alternative to tinplate for certain packaging applications. The chromium/chromium oxide coating provides good lacquer adhesion and corrosion resistance. Used for crown caps, twist-off closures, dry food containers, and bottom ends of cans. Thickness from 0.15mm to 0.40mm. Available in T1-T4 temper grades. TFS offers excellent paint adhesion and printability while eliminating tin consumption.
